The television station posted lower spending from its major advertisers, mainly multinational companies that were affected by the economic crisis in the US and Europe.
“Fourth quarter was bad, just like the third quarter. We were hoping in the third quarter that we would recover in the fourth but it did not happen,” Gozon said.
He said GMA Network just booked close to P1 billion worth of revenues in November, lower than last year’s over P1 billion. He said the company was still expecting revenues of less than P1 billion in December, a traditonally strong month.
“We were strong in the first half. I thought it will continue but something happened. Major advertisers reduced their spending. There is nothing wrong with our ratings, it is really the money available for advertisements,” Gozon said.
