The battle for dominance between Entertainment shows is just heating up as two of the industry's longest running talk shows now face each other every Sunday afternoon! GMA's Startalk, last January 26, 2014, has moved from Saturday to Sunday afternoon to challenge rival Talk show from the Kapamilya network.
The move from GMA saw little success as the first battle results were entirely against Startalk. Buzz ng Bayan crushed Startalk in Mega Manila and the National Urban last January 26, with Vhong's first interview posting a record breaking rating!
The second battle last February 2, 2014 gave startalk a little advantage with its exclusive interview with Deniece Cornejo, but still failed to beat Buzz ng Bayan in the National scene.
The third week of face off has given the two shows an equal footing with Starttalk earning an exclusive interview with Deniece's relatives while Buzz ng Bayan secures a second exclusive interview with Vhong Navarro.
Advertisers have expressed thier perspective of the raging battle favoring Buzz ng Bayan with 28.5 ad minutes as compared with Startalk's 21.5 ad minutes. The ad minutes translate to a whooping P15.7 million and P11.8 million estimated airtime revenues for Buzz ng Bayan and Startalk respectively.
But while it seems that Buzz ng Bayan has the upper hand both in ratings and airtime revenue, the scenario might be short lived. Vhong's exclusive interviews gave ABS-CBN the advantage pushing ratings and ad minutes up, but should this issue wanes will Buzz ng Bayan be able to maintain its lead against the longest running talk show?
