MANILA, Philippines – Jumping ship seems to be the trend among local Tinseltown’s top celebrities these days.
LT now a Kapatid
Former Kapamilya actress Lorna Tolentino recently inked a one-year deal with TV5, and her first order of business is to film the teleserye “Glamorosa.”
“‘Glamorosa’ muna ang uunahin namin, then another two more mini-seryes, kasi three months lang ‘yung teleserye. And then one movie, ‘yun ang nakasaad sa contract ko,” PEP quoted the actress as saying in an interview during the contract signing on Sept. 27.
Aside from these, Tolentino might also be given hosting duties through a lifestyle show on the Kapatid network.
Meanwhile, in “Glamorosa,” Tolentino said that she will be portraying the role of a doctor.
“According dun sa concept, sa mundo o larangan ng pagiging glamorosa, kailangan andun ‘yung beauty expertise mo… Bale family, involved din ‘yung family, may family drama pa rin pero ‘yung ginagalawan na profession ay more on beauty, cosmetics, cosmetology," she related.
Tolentino last starred in ABS-CBN’s hit primetime series, “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin,” which ended last month.
In a separate report also by PEP on Sept. 28, Tolentino said that the reason she left ABS-CBN was due to the difference in the number of working days.
"Channel 2 offered me 85 working days for a year, then Channel 5 offered me 140 days of work for one year...
"Yung sa ABS-CBN, 85 working days lang, e, parang one teleserye lang yun. Ang 'Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin,' umabot ako ng 80 taping days," she was quoted as saying.
More, she related that she was only able to make one series and one movie with the Kapamilya network instead of the agreed two each. However, Tolentino has no hard feelings towards ABS-CBN and added that she gave them a heads up before switching networks.
Another Kapamilya to jump ship to TV5?
After Tolentino, Willie Revillame and Mariel Rodriguez’s respective transfers from ABS-CBN to TV5, the rumor mill is apparently now abuzz with speculations that Sharon Cuneta would be following suit.
A report on Journal Online Wednesday said that the Megastar “is back into the fold of Viva Films where she was the biggest earner then.”
“Knowing Boss Vic [del Rosario, Viva's big boss] as a technical adviser sa TV5, nag-offer diumano ang TV5 ng talent fee na kahit sino ay ‘di kayang tanggihan,” the article speculated.
Cuneta, who's currently seen on ABS as the host of "The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition," has yet to air her side as of this writing.
Boyet juggles TV5, ABS seryes
Meanwhile, veteran actor Christopher de Leon is making a comeback on the Kapamilya network through the forthcoming primetime drama series “Padre de Pamilya.” Prior to this, de Leon starred in a number of TV shows on GMA such as "Bantatay" and "Ilumina." He is currently filming for the upcoming TV5 Nora Aunor-starrer, “Sa Ngalan ng Ina.”
De Leon said that he finds his role in “Padre” as a politician-head honcho of an organized crime group “very challenging.”
“Mas na-appreciate ko ‘yung storya ngayon na nakwento sa akin ng detalyado. Kaya medyo kinabahan ako [nang] konti. Very challenging for me lalo na ngayon naghahanap ako ng meatier roles that I could work on. This is one of them,” the actor told Push.com.ph in an interview posted on Sept. 28.
With his personal experience in politics, the Laguna board member hopes that he would be able to “do justice dun sa ibibigay sa akin na role.”
“I have to talk to the writers with regards dun sa sistema ng pamumuno at the same time para ‘yung character ko mas malinis at makatotohanan talaga,” he added.

Issue lang ngayon ang paglipat, dahil sa exclusivge exclusive na yan. Walang masama kung magtrabaho sa isang TV network ngayon at lilipat naman sa susunod. Porke't lumipat kasi ngayon, sasabihin walang utang na loob. Dapat ang sistema, per show. Dapat ang tingin natin. stars are moving from 1 show to another, and not from one network to another. Ang positive na nakikita ko lang sa pagaalaga ng ABS ng young stars ay they are investing in the future. Not to belittle the accomplishment of LT or Aga sa pag-arte, pero a lot of Veteran Actors and young stars can give them a run for their money. Kung hindi mo titignan ang mga awards na nakuha nila noon, iisipin mo na kayang sumabay nila Cherry Pie, Agot at Angel Aquino kay LT. Mas napansin pa nga si Amy Austria sa MLKI. Sa young stars (kahit sabihin pang wala pang masyadong award o napatunayan), kung ikukumpara lang yung performance NGAYON, pwede sumabay si Erich, Jodi, at Maja kay LT. Personally, mas nagagalingan ako kay John Lloyd kesa kay Aga. Pero tignan na lang si Christopher De Leon, marami iba't ibang projects sa tatlong networks. Nagagalingan ako sa kanya, pero kahit siya pumapalpak ang performance kung pangit ang role.
