THELMA RAKES P1.35M FOR ITS FIRST WEEK!

“Thelma” is an indie film about a young runner’s determination to reach her goals and dreams. It is a story of a simple young girl from the province named Thelma whose family is beset with challenges when she discovers her uncanny gift of speed. Her talent then opens doors for her – to elevate her family’s situation and change the course of her own life. But to do that she will have to run- against all obstacles, against personal hindrances, against shadows from her past, and against her own self-doubts.

Starring Maja Salvador in the title role, the movie also stars Tetchie Agbayani, John Arcilla, Eliza Pineda, Sue Prado, Elma Muros, Jason Abalos, and under the direction of Paul Soriano.
“Thelma” was included in the list of 7 films in consideration for the selection of the official entry of the Philippines to the 2012 Oscar Awards. The Film Academy of the Philippines has chosen “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank.”

“Thelma” may not be a box-office success but it garnered rave reviews from critics which makes the movie one of the early front-runners for the awards season next year.
