ABS-CBN’s top primetime soap “Mara Clara” and South Korea’s “The Baker King” failed to win in the category they were both nominated in 2011 BANFF World TV Awards.
ABS-CBN’s top-rating primetime series “Mara Clara,” the Philippines’ lone entry to the 2011 BANFF World Media Festival has failed to bring home the trophy for “Best Soap Operas & Telenovelas” award under “The Fiction Rookies” category of the said international award award giving body.
South Korea’s “The Baker King,” also known as “Bread, Love and Dreams” which was shown on GMA-7, also failed to bag the award in the same category.
“Eva Luna”, produced by Venevision Productions in association with Univision Productions for Univision USA, was announced this year’s winner of the Best Soap Opera and Telenovela during the awarding ceremony held last Sunday, June 12, 2011 at AOL Canada theater and hosted by Entertainment Tonight Canada Hollywood Correspondent Matte Babel.
“Mara Clara” and “The Baker King” were the only nominees from Asia in the said category. Other nominees include “Coronation Street” from the United Kingdom and “Days of our Lives” and “The Queen of the South,” also from the USA.

OK lang yan basta naging finalists ay malaking karangalan na yan kasi out of more than 100 entries eh isa ang Mara Clara sa nakapasok sa 4 na naglaban laban sa Best Telenovela.
SUGGESTION: Dub Eva Luna into Tagalog!!!
