The Price Is Right (TPIR) pilots on host Kris Aquino’s 40th birthday programmed as a primetime weekday opener at 5:45 p.m. As STIR.PH originally buzzed, ABS-CBN2’s franchise of the world’s longest running game show will be programmed to compete with Willie Revillame’s Willie Willie (WW). (CLICK HERE for details.) It turns out to be a pre-program to TV Patrol aimed to strengthen the already solid-rating early primetime newscast.
IN/SIGHT: If TPIR was scheduled as a pre-program for Happy Yipee Yehey as ABS-CBN2 leaked, it would have proven to be a more formidable attack to Eat...Bulaga! But the way it was programmed, it seems the Kapamilya network does not consider EB as the show to dominate but WW or Willie. It wants to get even with Willie for causing its successive noontime shows to fail and for winning its breach of contract case against him. It is trying to get even where it knows to have the upper hand, television programming. That is why it programmed TPIR as pre-program for TV Patrol.
This shows ABS-CBN2 is out to stop the television rating gains of Willie’s new home station, TV5, as a result of Willie’s entry into the aspiring network which has the potential to challenge its leadership. This means TV5 is the bigger competitor, not EB, which the Kapamilya network correctly perceived.
