With just less than a year the country's third Media player, Manny Pangilinan's TV5, has cornered a significant market share in the weekends with Willie Revillame adding to their precious list of stars! TV5's Willing Willie ranked no.1 on its time slot with an average audience share of 33.8% in Mega Manila, besting rivals Kapamilya Blockbuster Movies, 24 Oras and Kaya ng Powers, while it settled no.2 in National Urban with an average household ratings of 13.6% with GMA on close third with an average of 13.5%.
Here are the highlights of the Weekend Battle:
1. ABS-CBN remained the leader in weekends with all top 3 slots for Saturdays and Sundays belonging to channel 2; ( Saturday:1. Wansapanataym – 30.1%; 2. TV Patrol– 27%; 3. Maalaala Mo Kaya – 22.8%; Sunday: 1. TV Patrol – 21.9% 2. Rated K – 21.5% 3. Goin’ Bulilit – 21.4%)
2. TV5 stood No.1 on the 5pm to 8pm time slot in Mega Mega Manila with 33.8%, followed by ABS-CBN 30.4% and GMA-7 with 26%;
3. GMA-7 ranked No.3 on National Urban ratings during Willing Willie's time slot with 13.5% average Household ratings versus TV5's 13.6%. ABS-CBN still rules at a healthy margin with 26.5%;
4. Sharon's Star Power was bested by rivals with 15.7% vs Mel & Joey 16.1% in TNS, and Star Power 6.8% vs Magic? Gimik! (TV5) 7.7% and Mel & Joey (GMA-7) 9.3% in AGB Mega Manila;
5. Talentadong Pinoy wins over Going Bulilit 10.1% vs 7.3%, while GMA's Kapuso mo Jessica Soho, Imbestigador and Pepito Manaloto were undesputed leaders in NCR;

minsan daw pag gusto daw ng advertisers sila narin daw nagbabayd ng tax di na nila pinapaubaya sa mga network un kaya mukhang mababa ung rate (eto ung mga commercial ng happee, ung mga tea na supplement at ung mga small time), pero pag dating sa mga bigger players like (uniliver, p&G etc) marahil ung sinasabi mong rate x evat at kung anuanun pang tax bale pumapatak daw ng 600k pataas, pag primetime.... symepre may mga discount pa yan etc...
nagtanong lang ako kahapon dun sa may GAMA studios malapit sa Makati Coliseum ung studio na to, kakalula ung numbers nO?
nakita ko na mukahng busy ngaun ung studio na ito dahil daw nagpaparush sa props sa movies, mamaya magbibike ako at sisilip icacam ko na rin kung may makikita akng props na ginagawa...

GMA Network widens its ratings lead over rival
GMA Network has pulled away from its competition and widened its ratings lead over its rival network this month.
According to Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, a widely-recognized TV ratings data supplier, GMA Network dominated TV ratings in Mega Manila and Urban Luzon from October 11 to 17.
The Kapuso Network posted an average audience share of 39 percent in Mega Manila during that period while its main rival only had a 28.5 percent share, or 10.5 percentage points lower.
Mega Manila comprises 55% of the total urban household population nationwide.
Out of the top 30 overall TV programs in Mega Manila for that period, 19 were GMA shows, four of which were GMA Telebabad (primetime) offerings.
"Ilumina," starring Rhian Ramos, Jackie Rice, and Aljur Abrenica, took the top spot with 14.9 people rating points.
The fantaserye "Grazilda" led by Glaiza de Castro followed at number two with 13.6 points.
"Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown" hosted by Richard Gutierrez and GMA's banner newscast 24 Oras were tied at the third spot both with 13.5 points.
The recently concluded "Endless Love" starring Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, was at the sixth spot with 13.3 points.
The other GMA-produced shows that made it to the top 10 include: television’s first reality sitcom "Pepito Manaloto," and GMA Public Affairs Saturday primetime show "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho."
GMA Network dominates TV ratings in urban Luzon
GMA Network also dominated Total Urban Luzon, which comprises 77% of the total urban TV households in the country.
GMA Network average total day audience share in urban Luzon from October 1 to 17 was 37 percent, higher by 6.4 percentage points over its competition's 30.6 percent audience share.
In nationwide TV ratings, GMA's rival station is experiencing a downtrend. In audience share, the Kapuso station trails its competitor only by a very narrow margin of 2.2 percentage points.
In people rating based on a partial October data (October 1 to 17), the Kapuso network is behind only by 0.5%.
Out of the top 30 TV programs nationwide, 15 were GMA programs.
GMA Network also managed to overtake competition in the nationwide survey. On October 16, GMA Network posted these ratings:
a total day audience share of 33.6 percent, and
6.5% in people rating.
GMA's total day audience share is higher than its rival's 31.1% share.
On the other hand, GMA's people rating share is higher than its competitor's six percent share. –VVP,GMANews.TV

Quality Television (Q-11), the sister UHF channel of listed GMA Network, Inc., has insisted that it remains the fourth most-watched TV station among households in Metro Manila and nearby provinces (Mega Manila).
In a statement furnished BusinessWorld, Q-11 refuted the earlier claims that it dropped to fifth place in the ratings race, following the recent surge in the ratings of Studio 23, the UHF channel of Lopez-led ABS-CBN Corp.
"Q Channel 11 is still the number four TV station, according to Nielsen TV Audience Measurement’s Mega Manila household data for September 2010 (Sept. 26 to 30 based on overnight ratings). During the said period, Q Channel 11 posted 1.8 rating points as against Studio 23’s 1.7," Q-11 said.
Studio 23 earlier said that it has dislodged Q-11 from the fourth spot in the national ratings charts, trailing behind ABS-CBN, GMA Network and TV5.
March S. Ventosa, Studio 23’s managing director, said the UHF channel registered an average of 4.1% audience share in August based on the national survey conducted by media research firm Kantar Media.
He said Studio 23’s audience share in August is equivalent to 153% growth from the channel’s 1.6% audience share last January 2010. "We are catching up with rival TV5. We have surpassed Q-11...," Mr. Ventosa earlier said.
Q-11, formerly known as QTV, began airing in Nov. 11, 2005. Q-11 was formed after GMA Network and ZOE Broadcasting Network entered into an agreement for leasing the entire airtime block of ZOE-TV’s flagship UHF station dzOE-TV 11.
Immediately after its launch, Q-11 rose in the rankings to become the third most-watched television station in the country, next to GMA Network and ABS-CBN.
But after the former Associated Broadcasting Co. (ABC-5)and studio 23 relaunched as TV5 in August 2008 with a revamped programming lineup, Q-11 saw itself dropping to fifth place.

Studio 23′s TV Ratings Go Up, Beats TV5 in Noontime Block

Studio 23 is on a winning streak as its national audience share grew to an average of 5% in September, based on recent data from Kantar Media.
The Kabarkada network has overtaken TV5 in the noontime block as it is now in third place with an average audience share of 9% in September vs TV5′s 5%.
With new programming and offerings introduced since January 2010, Studio 23′s audience share has grown to 5% from its average of 1.8% in January 2010.
Studio 23 Head March Ventosa attributed Studio 23′s impressive performance to its latest offerings of movies during lunch and early primetime, Koreanovelas, animes, Top Rank boxing matches, WWE Superstars, UFC and UAAP/NCAA games.
“We have been innovating. Since the start of the year we’ve actually introduced a series of TV programming initiatives and we are proud to say that these initiatives have actually been very successful for us. The audience reception has been very positive and we are proud to say that we now rank fourth overall in the market,” said Studio 23 Head March Ventosa in a recent press conference.
Studio 23’s success in programming and growth in audience shares prompted it to innovate and introduce more new programs starting Oct 4.
Mornings on Studio 23 begin with a strong news and current affairs line-up to keep viewers informed of the latest happenings through the free TV telecast of DZMM TeleRadyo’s “Radyo Patrol Balita Alas-Siete” with Ted Failon and “Dos Por Dos” with Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja from 7 am to 8:30 am.
Kids get their daily dose of their favorite Nickolodeon cartoons with “Catdog” and “Danny Phantom” every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; and “Wonderpets” and “Chalkzone” every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
With the positive response from viewers on its local programming, Studio 23 has introduced three new shows on its 9:30 pm weeknight block, namely “3ow P0wgz!” with Ryan Bang on Mondays, “Usapang Lalake” with Alex Calleja, Arran Sese, Jobert Austria, and Boom Labrusca on Wednesdays, and “Pa-Bida Ka!” with RR Enriquez and Aaron Atayde on Fridays.
Studio 23 has also introduced a new format for its primetime newscast “iBA-BALITA” with Anthony Taberna, who not only delivers news and analysis, but also does live interviews with newsmakers. In its first week of airing, Anthony scored a coup with a one-on-one live interview with Executive Secretary Jojo Ochoa. Taberna also tackled the controversial reproductive health bill by interviewing parents of big families to help ordinary viewers understand and make sense of the issue.
Kabarkadas will also get to watch a primetime replay of the hit crime docu-drama “SOCO” anchored by Gus Abelgas every Tuesday at 9:30 PM and the explosive investigative reports of Julius Babao, Pinky Webb, and Anthony Taberna in “XXX” every Thursday at 9:30 PM.
For it’s U.S. series, Studio 23 will be airing the highly-anticipated sixth and final season of “Lost,” which premieres on Philippine free TV on Wednesday (Nov 3), at 10:00 p.m.
