NIELSEN INCREASED MEGA MANILA! INCLUDES BATANGAS AND LAGUNA!

AGB Nielsen, the TV Ratings provider of GMA Network and TV5, has increased its coverage for Mega Manila to Include the Province of Bantangas and Laguna! Starting January 1, 2011 data from AGB Nielsen Mega Manila now includes some more 200 sample households representing roughly 4 million combined population of Batangas and Laguna. This totaled AGB's sample household to 2, 005, up from the previous 1, 800  households. This also increased Mega Manila's share to the National Urban to 58% from 55%. This is the third time Mega Manila Area coverage was increased by the survey firm. In 2006 Mega Manila was only more than 40% of the National Urban, then it was increased to 50%, to 55%, then finally to 58%.  

This new composition is partly the reason why GMA Network came too close with ABS-CBN in the National Ratings because Laguna and Batangas are well known Kapuso Area. With this we can now expect different results from AGB and TNS,  where in Kantar, Mega Manila only comprises 50% of the National Urban Ratings.

On Statistical perspective, the 58:42 ratio favoring Mega Manila, implies that Mega Manila Area is 38% greater than the combined ratings of Balance Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
