ABS-CBN SECURES P1.65B LOAN WITH SECURITY BANK TO REFINANCE EXISTING DEBTS!

MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN Corp. sealed a loan package worth P1.65 billion with Security Banking Corp. to refinance existing obligations.

In a disclosure to the stock exchange, ABS-CBN chief information officer Eulogio Masilungan said the multimedia giant has obtained a four-year term loan of P1.65 billion from Security Bank.

The loan's interest rate is 4.25% per annum.

Last January 30, the company's board of directors approved the refinancing of its outstanding obligations under an existing P1.65 billion loan with Security Bank through a four-year term.

Earlier, ABS-CBN raised P6 billion from the sale of seven- and 10-year fixed rate bonds. Proceeds would be used to finance ABS-CBN's P10 billion capital expenditure program over the next five years.

Obviously, the above commented doesn't know much about corporate financing. His/her knowledge is limited to how a peasant would typically construe "borrowing". Stupid, ignorant, pitiful peasant.

BTW, not a fan of both stations. I am just doing research on the local TV landscape. It's just so amusing reading so many stupid commenters harking much about "utang" as something pejorative or inherently bad. Why will a stable corporation use equity or asset if it can leverage on financing, especially if its expected revenue growth can cover the interest payments?

Utang is not bad. Utang can be good, BUT only if it is used to make more profits and indeed if the expected profits are achieved.

Kaya so many people in the Philippines are poor because much of the population has such poor financial literacy.

The above commenter is one such shining example of a financially illiterate peasant. Peasant.

You need to study Finance before commenting because you don't know what you are talking about.

My thoughts exactly

No bank will provide loan to any company if it knows that the latter does not have the capacity to pay.

To the stupid and illiterate commenter, I suggest you read Finance and research on what provident loan is.

if ABS has already obtained a previous loan, then what is the purpose of another loan? wg na magpalusot na ang utang can be good dahil LOGICALLY, ang daming tao nalulubog sa kakautang.. hindi healthy yan kung nung year 2000 pa ang outstanding loan ng ABS at gang ngaun d pa nababayaran.. they have to maintain an image na nakakabayad sila when in reality / truth HINDI NAMAN PALA.. hahaha
