ABS-CBN MOBILE SEALS TIE UP WITH KOREAN GIANT KAKAO CORP!

MANILA - The mobile unit of ABS-CBN Corp has partnered with Kakao Philippines to offer free chat and calls through smartphones.

Under the partnership, subscribers of ABS-CBNmobile can use South Korea's largest mobile messaging app, Kakao Talk, even without WiFi access and data load.

“Now ABS-CBNmobile subscribers can use Kakao Talk to chat as much as they want and make a voice call and talk all they want to anyone, anywhere in the world,” Carlo Katigbak, ABS-CBN Convergence Inc president said in a statement.

GMA NETWORK RETIRES JESSICA SOJO AS FIRST VP FOR NEWS!

Veteran journalist Jessica Soho has retired from her post as the first vice president for news programs of GMA Network Inc, after being appointed to the position just last year.

She will, however, remain to be a Kapuso. With her retirement as GMA executive, Soho will now focus on newsmaking. She will continue to host her award-winning news magazine programs Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho on GMA-7 and Brigada on GMA News TV, and anchor the nightly news show State of the Nation on GMA News TV.

GMA 7 CONFIRMS RAMON ANG'S ENTRY TO THE BROADCASTING FIRM!

Major shareholders of Broadcasting Firm, GMA Network, has confirmed the sale of minority stakes to San Miguel Chair Ramon S. Ang. In a disclosure with the Philippine Stock Exchange dated June 23, 2014, GMA Network announced the formal entry of Ramon S Ang into the broadcasting industry. The financial detail of the deal has yet been announced, but the deal is seen to have a positive impact on the Network. RSA's entry to GMA Network would allow for additional advertising revenues for GMA7 via RSA's Food related companies. It will also be beneficial for GMA's shareholders as the price of the deal is believed to be  well above the prevailing market price of GMA7.

ABS-CBN FORAYS TO ENTERPRISE DATA BUSINESS!

MANILA - The cable unit of ABS-CBN Corp expects to earn P7.5 billion from its enterprise data and networking solution business over the next five years. 

In a briefing on Thursday, Jon Arayata, head of Sky Cable’s Skybiz, said the enterprise data market in the Philippines is estimated at about P30 billion, majority of which comes from multinational companies.

GOZON CONFIRMS SELLING STAKE TO RSA!

The chairman of GMA Network Inc on Wednesday said talks for an investment by San Miguel Corp president Ramon S. Ang in the broadcast company should be completed in a month.

Based on transcipts from an interview during GMA7's stockholders meeting, its chairman Felipe L. Gozon said talks with Ang are "progressing" and set to close "within 30 days."

MANILA - GMA Network Inc on Monday confirmed talks for a possible investment by San Miguel Corp (SMC), as the broadcast network reported that first-quarter profit fell on weaker revenues.

In a briefing, GMA chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon told reporters that he is in talks with SMC president Ramon S. Ang for the sale of a "substantial" stake in the broadcast company.

GMA SUFFERS 46% DROP IN Q1 EARNINGS!

Listed GMA Network Inc.'s first quarter net income dipped by nearly half, mainly in the absence of gains from political advertisements the company received from last year's mid-term elections, officials announced Monday.

In a briefing, GMA Network officials said net income declined by 46 percent to P325 million in the first three months from P601 million a year earlier.

SMC CHAIRMAN BUYS A STAKE ON GMA NETWORK FOR P10.8 BILLION!

After the reported collapse of talks between the three families who control GMA Network and Mannuel Pangilinan of Media Quest, reports surface indicating Ramon S. Ang finalizing its entry to the Media Giant. 

The three families who control the GMA Network expect to receive about P10.8-billion from San Miguel president Ramon S. Ang. The amount represents a reported 30-percent stake, at a reported price of P10.80 a share, that Ang is acquiring in his personal capacity. San Miguel Corp. is not allowed by law to aqua ire a stake in GMA Network as no foreign entities are allowed to hold a controlling stake in any of the country's media entities.
