TV Partrol News anchors Ted Failon and Korina Sanchez are facing new controversies over their comments regarding the Super Typhoon Yolanda. In the past week, Korina Sanchez has been lambasted with criticisms against her comment to a CNN News reporter. Now recently, co-News anchor Ted Failon also found himself in a similar situation after his reckless comments declaring PAGASA personnel as ignorant of "storm surges" after a PAGASA employee died from the Super Typhoon while on duty. Noli De Castro is also not spared as his arrogance and palpable bias opinion continue to irritate viewers who only wish for plain less opinionated stories.
These controversies will surely mark a dent on the already stained credibility of ABS-CBN's leading nightly news program. TV Patrol has been suffering from poor ratings in Mega Manila and has never won an audience battle in Urban Luzon against 24 Oras. Even in high profile news TV Patrol has been inferior against 24 Oras in terms of viewer count as Filipinos find TV Patrol's news anchors unreliable and overly biased.
Perhaps ABS-CBN should bring back Karen Davila and Juluis Babao, which are known for their professionalism in reporting. ABS-CBN should go away with a FOX NEWS-like reporting of allowing reporters to give opinions on reports. The Kapamilya Network may enjoy better ratings if they stick to plain News Reporting and build back credibility to their news team.
