FRESH FROM ITS SUCCESS IN VISMIN, TV5 ALLOCATES P6 B TO IMPROVE RATINGS IN LUZON!

CONSISTENT with its goal of finally turning a profit next year, broadcast firm TV5 is setting aside P6 billion for capital expenditures this year, roughly the same amount the network set aside in 2012.

Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman of ABC Development Corp. that runs the network, told reporters the allocation should help TV5 do better this year in terms of financial performance as well as audience share.

“I think we should do better this year, better programming, better talents, better revenues,” Pangilinan said on Tuesday. TV5 reported six-month losses of P2.8 billion.

Star Cinema remains to be the undisputed leader in the local box office as it raked all TOP 5 highest grossing films for 2012! The film production arm of the country's largest broadcasting firm also set the record for producing the new top grossing local film of all time, SISTERAKAS, outselling 2011's best performer Praybeyt Benjamin, also a product of Star Cinema.  The TOP 5 blockbuster movies alone raked in P1.2 billion in sales, even bigger  with the combined sales of GMA Films, Regal Entertainment and Viva Films.

NTC ENDORSES ABS-CBN'S PREFERENCE FOR DTV STANDARD!

MANILA, Philippines - The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) is backing the adoption of the Japanese digital TV standard to replace the analog system in the Philippines by 2015.

Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba said the NTC endorsed the adoption of Japan's Integrated Service Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial or ISDB-T standard to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) last December.

Cordoba said the DOST, which is in charge of big projects involving technology, will make the recommendation to Malacanang.

Kantar Media Phils with its recently launched expanded TV Ratings measurement claims to offer more reliable and wider coverage of TV viewing in the country. Kantar promises to represent 100% of Philippine TV viewing with its 2,609 panel homes. This is 32% more than ABG Nielsen's 1,980 panel homes which only covers 57% of Philippine TV viewing. "Kantar Media launched its expanded TV ratings measurement to include rural homes in June 2012. 

"Kantar Media is a leading television (TV) audience measurement provider with capabilities in gathering TV viewing data in both digital and analog platforms, and a multinational market research group that specializes in audience measurement in more than 80 countries, has 26 TV networks, ad agencies, and pan-regional networks subscribing to its ratings services.

Nagbitaw na ng salita ang actress-TV host na si Kris Aquino na hindi na siya gagawa ng pelikula para sa Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Sa social networking site na Twitter kaninang hapon, January 3, sinagot ni Kris ang tanong ng isang follower kung gagawa ulit siya ng pelikula para sa 2013 MMFF)


Sinabi ng Sisterakas actress at co-producer, “Save this please, i’m done. Achieved 3rd in 2010, 2nd in 2011 & 1st in 2012.”

Does Vic feel nervous about Eat Bulaga being pitted again against Willie’s show?

Star Cinema has once again gestured its unchallenged dominance in the local box office as it raked a total of P534.36 million in total ticket sales in the 2012 MMFF! Based from the unofficial results from PEP, films produced, co-produced and/or distributed by ABS-CBN Film Production constitutes a rough 65% of total MMFF ticket sales. This means that even combining all consolidated receipts of other MMFF entries Star Cinema films still out sells them by almost TWICE the amount!
