MANILA, Philippines – The TV5 management has moved back the airing of the TV remake of “Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum,” the '90s movie starring Robin Padilla, “out of respect” for the action star, whose soap opera is currently airing in ABS-CBN."
Perci Intalan, the Kapatid network’s Entertainment and Creative Services head, announced this via Twitter on June 9.
“Thanks for all the good feedback we got on the teaser of #utolkonghoodlum. But out of respect for Robin Padilla, the original star of utol, who has a teleserye on air now, TV5 has decided to air jc de vera and jasmine curtis smith's version of Robin's blockbuster in September,” he said through a series of tweets.
“Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum,” according to a PEP Scoopbox post on June 9, was supposed to kick off this month. Meanwhile, Robin’s new teleserye “Guns and Roses,” which also stars Bea Alonzo, has already aired its pilot episode last June 6.
Despite this change in the scheduled airing of "Hoodlum," Perci promised “it will be worth the wait.”
“You'll see for yourself when we release the full trailer!” he added.
The apparent heir to Robin’s “Hoodlum” throne, drama actor JC de Vera was quite saddened with the news. He related via Twitter on Thursday that he learned about the matter through his manager Annabelle Rama.
“Eto bad news.Got a call from tita anabel, sabi nya postponed muna ang airing ng utol hangang di natatapos ang guns n roses ni robin padilla. Na excite pa naman ako dhl malapit na.pasensha na sa mga nagaabang din,” he tweeted.
He nevertheless saw the bright side, saying, “pero goodthing dhl and2 n si @jascurtissmith nun to promote with me.” JC’s leading lady Jasmine Curtis-Smith, sister of Anne Curtis, is currently in Australia for her studies.
The actor related that he idolizes Robin, and even admitted that he watches the latter’s show.
“…nanunuod din ako ng guns n roses kaseü respeto nalang kay sir robin kung isabay nga naman sa show nya yung utol kong hoodlum.
“üok lang idol nmn natin lahat si robin, guns n roses muna bago utol hehe.sana suportahan dn nla utol,” JC posted.
Jasmine, meanwhile, has apparently acknowledged the matter, re-tweeting the posts of JC and Perci also on Thursday.
