Former basketball heartthrob, now TV’s newest hunk, Chris Tiu proved to be a strong opponent Saturday nights with his new show, Man vs. Beast.
The show squashed Buhawi Jack’s action stunts and Willing Willie’s interminable dole outs to cash-hungry studio audience.Tiu’s show last Saturday proved that Mega Manila audiences are ready to watch shows with more substance like Man vs. Beast with its debut audience share of 31.7%, beating Gerald’s action weekend serial by 13.4 points, and Willie’s dole out show by 5.90.
The TV ratings data were from the more widely subscribed to audience measuring research firm, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.
This Saturday, Chris presents more exciting contests between man and animals like the obstacle race between a former Navy Seal and a chimpanzee. He also features a run participated by a world-class sprinter, a giraffe and a zebra.
Who will triumph in this week’s challenges? Find out in the strange yet fascinating show, Man vs. Beast.
Meanwhile, the pilot episode of Spooky Nights’ first series, Bampirella with Marian Rivera was also a charmer as viewers were hooked to the show when it also debuted last Saturday. It posted an impressive 34 percent household audience share in the ratings rival programs Maalaala Mo Kaya that could only post 28 percent and LOL Laugh or Lose with 16.2 percent, nearly just half of Marian’s audience.
In tomorrow’s episode, circumstances get tighter for Cindy (Marian) as she transforms into a vampire in front of many people. While in vampire state, she has a chance encounter with Michael (Mikael Daez), a dentist, and Armando (Marc Abaya), a rock band vocalist. Whom will she attack first between these two good-looking guys?
More Chris Tiu
The audience loves Chris Tiu, that is if the ratings figure are an indication. And with this in mind, the Kapuso network deems it proper to put Tiu back in Ripley’s Believe It or Not, starting tomorrow, half an hour prior to Eat Bulaga.
He is also seen every Saturday morning in Hanep Buhay. So, Tiu is now the busiest non-drama star in Kapuso’s history.
The Ateneo de Manila-educated athlete-turned-media celebrity is gradually becoming more at home with the camera and has showed that he has what it takes to be a good host.
Will we see him in more show business-oriented shows in the future? If he says yes, then a an entire country of Chris Tiu fans will have reason to celebrate!
