MANILA, Philippines – In relation to his verbal and legal tussle with John “Sweet” Lapus, showbiz columnist Jobert Sucaldito is said to also be upset with the comedian’s friend, Kris Aquino.
As reported on “Juicy Express” on April 7, Sucaldito supposedly got offended that Aquino accepted Lapus’ Best Actor trophy on his behalf during the recently concluded 8th Golden Screen Awards. Lapus missed the event as he was in Boracay.
“Kaya lang naman nasaktan si Jobert ay dahil kaibigan din niya si Kris Aquino… Kaya lamang, hindi daw lumugar si Kris sa dapat niyang kalagyan nang tanggapin niya ‘yung award na parang sinasabi niya, ‘O, kampi ako dito’,” said host Cristy Fermin during their live discussion of the issue.
Fermin’s co-host Alex Gonzaga also relayed a report that says Aquino allegedly took a swipe at Sucaldito during her acceptance speech for Lapus.
“Inaalagaan daw siya (Lapus) ng network niya. So siguro medyo naapektuhan din si Jobert,” said Gonzaga.
To which Fermin argued, “Eh, kasalanan ng network kung bakit binitiwan si Jobert, hindi kasalanan ni Jobert ‘yon. Pangalawa, ‘yung sinabi niyang (Aquino) hindi na raw starlet si John ngayon, sabi naman ni Jobert, ‘he’ll forever be a starlet for me.'”
Sucaldito was a former segment host of “The Buzz,” where he worked with Aquino, her best friend Boy Abunda---who is said to have also been dragged in Sucaldito’s falling out with Aquino---and Phoemela Baranda. He left the show a few months after Aquino did, confessing in his column in a local tabloid that he was not happy with his “status” on the show.
He remains as one of the hosts of the DZMM radio program, “Mismo.”
Sucaldito likewise appealed to Aquino not to involve her sons, especially her eldest, Joshua, on any issue they may have, Fermin added.
"Sabi niya (Aquino), kasi daw mahal daw ni John Lapus si Josh, na isang special child. Ang tanong ni Jobert, 'Bakit ako, hindi ko ba minahal ang anak niya?'” related Fermin.
The “Juicy” host also said that Sucaldito will no longer let himself be used, purportedly by people like Aquino. “Meron palang mga pagkakataon na si Kris, tumatawag sa kanya madalas kapag may ipabibira,” she expounded.
Meanwhile, Aquino confirmed Sucaldito’s alleged “pang-aaway” via an article published in Pinoy Parazzi.
“Inaaway niya ako about Sweet. Idinadamay si Boy (Abunda)…,” read a part of the actress’ text message to one of its columnists, Pilar Mateo.
Despite the brewing fight, Aquino emphasized that she will not “fall into the trap of fighting with him” because “wala akong atraso sa kanya.”
The loquacious TV host further said that Lapus and Abunda, who got into a row years ago over a myriad of issues, “have managed to peacefully co-exist in my life.”
“Why? Because they both love my sons. End of issue… So if Jobert will threaten thru Reggee (Bonoan, another entertainment writer), na sisiraan niya ako, Tita Pilar, may bago pa ba? What’s important to me is to give love and respect to the people who truly love my sons. ‘Yun na ‘yun,” added Aquino.
She, however, declined to comment on the circulating rumors that she allegedly sent a text message to Sucaldito.
Sucaldito and Lapus have slapped each other with libel charges last month, a battle which sprang from an article that Sucaldito wrote in February alleging that Lapus got embroiled in an altercation in a comedy bar in Malate.
