The battle for National leadership heats up as GMA Network slowly catches up in the Urban Ratings. For the month of January GMA-7 and ABS-CBN statistically garnered the same audience share for non-prime time slots with 35% each. This is because GMA increased its viewership in weekday daytime contributed by high numbers from Eat Bulaga and Temptation of Wife. However ABS-CBN's unbeatable dominance in weekend daytime, especially from its Sunday line-up, offset GMA's advantage and placed the match at par.
Nevertheless, the overall crown still remained with the Kapamilya Network as ABS-CBN's 9% lead in Prime time broke the tie to a 2% lead in favor of channel 2. TNS media reported ABS-CBN earning 40% audience share in prime time while GMA Network raked only 31% for the month of January.
Early this week, GMA-7 claimed to capture National Leadership citing data from rival survey firm , AGB Neilsen.
