GMA NETWORK AND AGB NIELSEN FLAGS CHANNEL 7'S LEADERSHIP IN NUTAM!

GMA NETWORK, Inc. on Monday said it bagged the highest national television ratings for the month of October, citing data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.
In a statement on Monday, the broadcasting giant said it had 35.3 national daily average share points, while rival network ABS-CBN Corp. had 29.5 points. GMA Network added TV5 was able to snag 16....8 share points.

"GMA [Network]’s strong win nationwide was most pronounced in the afternoon block, where it posted a double-digit advantage over its competitors this October," GMA Network said.

In Urban Luzon alone which comprises 77% of total television households nationwide, GMA Network said it had 18.9 share points during the month of October, more than ABS-CBN's 25 points and TV5's 17.8 points.

On the other hand, for Mega Manila which comprises 58% of total television households nationwide, GMA said it recorded 39.8 share points versus ABS-CBN's 23.2 points and TV5's 18.8 points.

GMA Network's Nielsen TV Audience Measurement has a total sample size of 2,005 homes, the broadcasting giant said.

Earnings of GMA Network dropped by 37.5% to P1.055 billion in the first half from the same period last year. -- Kathleen A. Martin/business world
