ABS-CBN'S MARKET VALUE NOW MORE THAN DOUBLE THAN GMA NETWORK!

ABS-CBN's market value continues to soar as its diversification program gravitates attention from investors. The Media giant's market capitalization as of February 20, 2015 stood P53.17 billion, more than double the size of rival GMA Network, which saw its market value whittle to P21.11 billion. Local and foreign investors salivate with the Kapamilya Networks' foray into other businesses while maintaining its industry leadership on its traditional business.

DUAVIT RESIGNS AS GMA'S BOARD MEMBER

Judith Vasquez has ceded her position in the board of directors to make way for her other business venture. Vasquez is a member of the Duavit family, one of the three controlling families of the Media giant.

ABS-CBN MOBILES AIMS BREACH 3 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS BY END 2015!

MANILA – ABS-CBNmobile, the mobile arm of ABS-CBN Corp., is looking to increase its subscriber base to 3 million this year, double the number of subscribers it had at the end of 2014.

ABS-CBNmobile initially set a target of 2 million subscribers to break even, but ABS-CBN Access head Carlo Katigbak said the target was raised due to a decline in average revenue per user (ARPU).

“We have quite a challenge this year. I think our goal is to bring this up to about 3 million customers, double to where we came from at the end of last year,” he said.

ABS-CBN UNVEILS THE FIRST DTT SERVICE IN THE PHILIPPINES!

MANILA – ABS-CBN ushered in a new era in Philippine television with the launch of its new digital service on Wednesday.

ABS-CBN TVplus, popularly known as “The Mahiwagang Black Box,” was unveiled by executives of the media conglomerate led by its chairman Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III, and president and chief executive Charo Santos-Concio in a ceremonial switch-on event held inside the ABS-CBN compound in Quezon City.

Lopez said digital terrestrial TV (DTT) is a major investment of ABS-CBN, calling it “the future of TV” and “the biggest innovation on free TV today.”

ABS-CBN'S H1 PROFITS DOWN BY A FIFTH!

MANILA – ABS-CBN Corp's first half earnings decreased by over a fifth on the absence of election-related earnings this year.

The Lopez-led broadcasting firm said in a report that its profit went down 22.9 percent to P995 million in the first six months of the year from P1.29 billion in the same period in 2013.

The decrease was largely brought about by last year's election-related advertising spendings, which chalked up 54 percent of the Januuary-June 2013 earnings.

ABS-CBN MOBILE SEALS TIE UP WITH KOREAN GIANT KAKAO CORP!

MANILA - The mobile unit of ABS-CBN Corp has partnered with Kakao Philippines to offer free chat and calls through smartphones.

Under the partnership, subscribers of ABS-CBNmobile can use South Korea's largest mobile messaging app, Kakao Talk, even without WiFi access and data load.

“Now ABS-CBNmobile subscribers can use Kakao Talk to chat as much as they want and make a voice call and talk all they want to anyone, anywhere in the world,” Carlo Katigbak, ABS-CBN Convergence Inc president said in a statement.

GMA NETWORK RETIRES JESSICA SOJO AS FIRST VP FOR NEWS!

Veteran journalist Jessica Soho has retired from her post as the first vice president for news programs of GMA Network Inc, after being appointed to the position just last year.

She will, however, remain to be a Kapuso. With her retirement as GMA executive, Soho will now focus on newsmaking. She will continue to host her award-winning news magazine programs Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho on GMA-7 and Brigada on GMA News TV, and anchor the nightly news show State of the Nation on GMA News TV.

GMA 7 CONFIRMS RAMON ANG'S ENTRY TO THE BROADCASTING FIRM!

Major shareholders of Broadcasting Firm, GMA Network, has confirmed the sale of minority stakes to San Miguel Chair Ramon S. Ang. In a disclosure with the Philippine Stock Exchange dated June 23, 2014, GMA Network announced the formal entry of Ramon S Ang into the broadcasting industry. The financial detail of the deal has yet been announced, but the deal is seen to have a positive impact on the Network. RSA's entry to GMA Network would allow for additional advertising revenues for GMA7 via RSA's Food related companies. It will also be beneficial for GMA's shareholders as the price of the deal is believed to be  well above the prevailing market price of GMA7.
