INIISNAB pala ng kampo ni Sarah Geronimo ang show ni Kris Aquino, ang Talk TV. Sarah was invited a lot of times na mag-guest sa show but her camp seems bent on snubbing the invitation palagi. It appears na ayaw nilang i-guest ang kanilang alaga sa show ni Kris.

Marami pong matutuwa,” one fan tweeted.Na sinagot naman ni Kris ng ganito, ”How abt helping our show get SG to guest by flooding VIVA w/ requests?” adding, ”because we have tried many times to invite. GLOBE TELECOM EYES ABS-CBN AS CONTENT PARTNER!

MANILA, Philippines -  Could a content partnership between Globe Telecom and ABS-CBN Corp. be in the offing?

Globe Telecom Inc. president Ernest Cu said ABS-CBN could be a possible partner for its plan to offer content for its mobile customers.
The telco's plan comes amid rival Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.'s intention to buy GMA Network Inc.

Asked if Globe would be making a similar move, Cu replied, "absolutely." However, no concrete plans have been made.

Asked if ABS-CBN could be an investment for its plan to offer "new age content", Cu said: "All content owners are."

MANILA, Philippines - Lopez-led multimedia conglomerate ABS-CBN Corp. is branching out into theme parks and resorts development, following the footsteps of global media giants Walt Disney Co., NBC Universal and Viacom which broke out of the cocoon of home entertainment.

The country’s largest media outfit has incorporated ABS-CBN Theme Parks & Resort Holdings Inc. with an initial authorized capital of P270 million to serve as the group’s vehicle for its foray into the amusement park business.

MVP: TV5-GMA MERGER ON A LQ MODE!

MANILA, Philippines - Businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan compared the ongoing deal talks between his group and GMA Network to a pair having "LQ" or lovers' quarrel.

"TV5 and GMA7 parang may LQ. Sometimes on, sometimes off," he said during an Internet & Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) event on Friday, August 24.

"[We're] currently on," he added.

"LQ" typically refers to two people who love each other, argue over a certain subject, later make up, and all is right until their next quarrel.

MANILA, Philippines - Ayala-led Globe Telecom, Inc. is considering expanding into "new age" content providers -- which may include a media partner -- to add to the traditional portfolio of services it offers to its mobile subscribers.

In a briefing on Thursday, August 23, Globe president Ernest Cu said the cellular firm needs to continuously offer relevant content to its mobile subscribers.

A key official of ABS-CBN Corp. said that the company may exceed its target of P1.3 billion net income for this year if the company can manage its resources and costs.

“As I mentioned, we may exceed the P1.3-billion net income target for this year. I think I mentioned with the consolidation of Destiny [Cable] and if we continue to sustain the double-digit growth [in August] for the remainder of the year, and we continue to managed our resources and our costs. I think we may exceed,” said Ronaldo Valdueza, financial head of ABS-CBN.

According to ABS-CBN chief financial officer Rolando Valdueza, advertising revenues show signs of strengthening in the second half of the year because of the network’s top-rating shows like “Be Careful With My Heart.” He said, “We’re also experiencing double-digit growth in terms of airtime starting August and if we can sustain this by the end of the year, we may exceed P1.3 billion.”

The education arm of the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. (AFI) was recognized in the 2012 Gawad Leardership and Innovations for Development Relevant to Science Education (Gawad LIDER) Awards for producing quality programs for the youth.

AFI’s E-media received the Exemplary Leadership Award in the Institution category along with Dr. Luis Rey Velasco, entomologist and former chancellor of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños, who was given the same award in the Individual category.

GMA-7 did not renew the contract of Claudine Barretto. This was confirmed by CEO and Chairman Atty. Felipe Gozon.

“Wala na sa amin si Claudine. Expired na ang contract niya,” Atty. Gozon said during a brief interview held at the 16th floor of GMA Network Center.

The 33-year-old Claudine, who rose to star status as an ABS-CBN talent, signed an exclusive two-year contract with GMA-7 in November 2009.

SKYCABLE PLANS IPO TO FUND EXPANSION!

MANILA, Philippines - Lopez-owned Sky Cable is planning to undertake an initial public offering (IPO) of its shares to raise additional funds for its expansion, a top company executive said.

In an interview with The STAR, ABS-CBN Corp. chairman Eugenio Lopez III said that with the recent acquisition of the cable television and broadband Internet business of the Destiny Group, Sky Cable is now more confident about its business prospects in the future. Sky Cable is a unit of ABS-CBN.

MANILA, Philippines - Sale of assets, including a minority stake in power retailer Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), caused the net income of listed Lopez Holdings Corp. to skyrocket by 569% in the first 6 months of 2012.

In a disclosure on Tuesday, August 14, Lopez Holdings (formerly Benpres Holdings) announced that its net income for the period reached P5.451 billion, a far cry from year ago's P815 million.

Filipino broadcast company GMA Network Inc. (GMA) on Tuesday said it registered strong financials for the first semester of 2012 on improved advertiser confidence and sound financial management.

As of end-June, the company’s consolidated gross revenues reached P6.790 billion, even surpassing last year’s already-solid top line performance by P64 million or 1 percent.

Despite reporting profit drop yesterday, ABS-CBN Corp. celebrated a hike in its stocks price in the stocks market as investors flock to get a share of ABS and ABSP. Both Stocks of the  ABS-CBN Media Group inched up to occupy the 6th and 9th place in the early day trading. ABS-CBN's revenue growth continue to lure investors despite the danger of the GMA-TV5 merger.  ABS-CBN CEO claimed that the possible merger between TV 5 and GMA will not affect their strategic plan as more channels will be made available in the DTV transition.

ABS-CBN'S H1 RECURRING NET INCOME SHRINKS 8% ON HIGHER EXPENSES!!

Media conglomerate ABS-CBN Corp. reported a net income of P927 million in the first half of 2012. This was 45% lower than the net income of P1.677 billion in the first half of 2011, which included a
one-time gain from the sale of Sky Cable PDRs.

Excluding the one-time gain, ABS-CBN's net income in the first 6 months of 2012 would be P674 million, 8% lower than the same period last year.

ABS-CBN said its consolidated revenues from advertising and consumer sales jumped to P15.3 billion in the January to June period, 9% higher than year-ago figures.

Advertising revenues rose 5% to P9.2 billion in the first half, while consumer sales jumped 17% to P6.1 billion.

GMA7 AND PLDT SHARES FELL AMIDST PENDING NEWS ON TV5-GMA MERGER!

PLDT Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan said the telco is prepared to seal a deal to acquire the broadcaster within the deadline earlier given by GMA Network Chairman Felipe L. Gozon.

“We have an appreciation of that deadline,” Mr. Pangilinan said, noting however that this excludes delays that may be posed by regulators.

“We can agree, but if somebody else approves the transaction, it’s beyond our control,” said Mr. Pangilinan, who nodded when reporters asked if funding for the acquisition is at hand.

Mr. Pangilinan said last month that his camp has moved to approach banks for funding.

PLDT was also seen selling off assets, such as its 26% stake in PhilWeb Corp.

ABS-CBN DENIES IT HAS INTEREST IN ACQUIRING IBC 13 OR RPN 9!

ABS-CBN Corp., the largest broadcasting company in the Philippines, said it is not interested in bidding for two state-owned television stations, which the government may put on the auction block soon.

The government wanted to privatize RPN 9 and IBC 13 to boost the country’s coffers. The Privatization Management Office is currently working out the terms for the sale of these networks.San Miguel Corp. is among the companies that expressed interest in bidding for the government stations while MediaQuest Holdings Inc., a unit of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., which owns TV 5, already has an existing block time deal with IBC 13.

SABI nga kapag naghangad ka ng sobra-sobra ay hindi maganda ang magiging resulta.

Tulad na lang ni Derek Ramsay na sikat, kumikita ang pelikula at pinag-aagawan sa endorsement noong nasa ABS-CBN pa.

But now, what happen to Derek nang mag-decide sila ng kanyang foreigner dad na lumipat sa TV5? Hayun, nganga ang hunk actor sa pag-aantay ng project na ibibigay sa kanya. At ang da height, pati ‘yung inalok sa kanya ng Kapatid network na hosting job para mag-cover sa London Olympics 2012 na idinaos last Friday (July 27) na kanyang iniilusyon, nadismaya ang fans dahil ipinalabas na ang buong coverage nito pero hindi man lang nasilayan kahit anino ng aktor.

Oo! Naipalabas nga ang full coverage nito sa AKTV sa IBC 13 na pag-aari rin ni Mr. Manny Pangilinan pero hindi nga nakita ang presence ng ex ni Angelica Panganiban. Sabi, baka raw sa Cignal TV naroroon si Derek. Hay naku! Hindi naman uso ang Cignal TV na ‘yan sa mga kababayan natin dahil sanay na sila sa Sky, Home Cable at Destiny Cable. Hayan kasi, hindi pa makuntento sa career niya sa Kapamilya network, biglang nalaos tuloy sa Singko.

Aanhin ni Derek ang milyones kung tigok naman ang career niya, aber? Dat’s a big big katangahan gyud!

ABS-CBN AND GMA NETWORK CLAIMS RATINGS LEADERSHIP IN JULY!

THE country’s two top television broadcast firms are both claiming ratings lead in July.

GMA Network Inc. claimed leadership in the household audience share for July, besting rivals ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. and TV5.

The company subscribes to the Nielsen TV Audience Measurement along with 21 other companies including TV5; Faulkner Media; CBN Asia; 15 advertising agencies and three regional clients.

GMA Network said it scored 33.3 points in total day  household audience shares in National Urban Philippines, 1.1 points higher than ABS-CBN’s 32.2 and 18.4 points higher than TV5’s 14.9.

Inaayos na ang dapat ayusin sa paglipat ng young actress na ikinatataranta ng JuliElmo fans nina Julie Anne San Jose at Elmo Magalona dahil nali-link kay Elmo si Lauren.

GOZON DEMANDS THE SALE OF GMA-7 TO BE SEALED THIS YEAR OR ELSE NO MERGER WILL OCCUR!

The much-anticipated deal between rival networks TV5 and GMA-7 is in a make-or-break period.

According to GMA Network Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon, the business deal with TV5 chair Manuel V. Pangilinan will either push through this 2012 or not at all. "It will either terminate or go through within this year," he said on Tuesday, July 31.

Gozon led the bell ringing ceremony at the Philippine Stock Exchange floor at the Ayala trading floor to mark the media network's 5th listing anniversary. In his speech to the exchange, he said GMA-7 "must prepare for new and better opportunities" ahead.

Gozon says that with technological advancements of today, "TV is in a constant state of flux."

Thus, if a deal with Pangilinan's group does not push through, Gozon admitted that GMA-7 would have to begin investing in broadband given the trend towards online and traditional broadcast converging.

As it stands, GMA-7 is the only one among the 3 major television networks without major broadband and cable assets. Industry leader ABS-CBN Corp. has been aggressively investing in broadband through its Sky Cable unit, while TV5 has access to the massive telecommunications and broadband assets of Pangilinan-led Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co (PLDT).

NIELSEN MEDIA ACCUSED OF MANIPULATING TV RATINGS IN INDIA!

MANILA, Philippines -- India's oldest and largest news network has accused The Nielsen Co. of manipulating viewership data in favor of broadcasters that are willing to provide bribes to its officials, several media outfits reported on Monday.

New Delhi Television Ltd. (NDTV) filed the 194-page lawsuit in New York County Supreme Court on July 26, accusing Nielsen of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as the Dutch Corporate Governance Code.
